How does the Payconiq payment solution work?

Thanks to Payconiq and BGL BNP Paribas, it has never been easier to exchange money, pay bills or make purchases in Luxembourg.

This payment solution operates through a mobile app, available for free for Android or iOS smartphones. It is directly linked to your BGL BNP Paribas bank account.
The transactions are deducted directly, like with a free bank transfer.

Payconiq, a BGL BNP Paribas solution, meets the bank’s strict security and encryption standards. You must approve each transaction using your fingerprint or PIN. No sensitive data is sent or stored on your smartphone.

What can you do with Payconiq?

BGL BNP Paribas has three different features using Payconiq :

  • exchanging money with friends and family ;
  • paying bills ;
  • paying for online or in-store purchases.
 

Exchanging money with friends and family

Quickly sending or receiving money with friends and family? With Payconiq, it’s never been easier! All you have to do is:

  • select the payee/payer’s phone number or enter it directly in the Payconiq app;
  • enter the amount that you want to send or receive ;
  • confirm the transaction with your PIN, fingerprint or Face ID

If the payee/payer has activated the “Payment and Requests" in Payconiq, they will receive a notification informing them that a transfer or transfer request has been made. Otherwise, they will receive a text message prompting them to activate the feature.

Your account (for a transfer request) or your payee’s account (for a transfer) will then be credited with the amount entered.

At the same time, you can give your friends and family a nudge to remind them to send money by using the “Request” money feature.

 

Paying bills with Payconiq

 

Pay your bills in Luxembourg in the blink of an eye with Payconiq and BGL BNP Paribas. No more entering reference information: all you have to do is scan the Payconiq QR code on your bill and confirm the transaction with your PIN or fingerprint.

 

Your account will be automatically debited and the beneficiary’s account will be credited.

Paying for purchases in-store or online

You can pay for purchases with Payconiq either online or in-store in Luxembourg in the same way that you pay bills. All you have to do is scan the QR code and confirm the transaction. The transaction will be executed instantaneously.

Good to know

You can also save your loyalty cards in the application. They will be communicated to the business automatically when the transaction takes place.

 
 

How to get the Payconiq app

To get Payconiq, all you have to do is visit the App Store or Google Play :

Download the Payconiq app, then activate it through the desktop version of Web Banking (feature not available in the Web Banking app).

    How do I use Payconiq?

    Payconiq can be used for payments in Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands.

    There are three types of payments:

    • peer to peer ;
    • at the point of sale (e.g. Cora, Batiself) ;
    • online, using a computer or smartphone (e.g. www.luxcaddy.lu, www.foostix.lu) ;
    • with invoices that include the Payconiq QR code (e.g. Foyer, Lalux, Leo, Ville de Luxembourg, etc.).

    The Payconiq payment solution enables your smartphone to retrieve the necessary payment data and make a transfer from your bank account to the store’s.

    Transactions are free for users who pay, transfer or receive money with Payconiq.

    How do I know if my Payconiq payment has gone through?

    Once your Payconiq transaction has been approved, a payment confirmation message appears on your smartphone screen and a corresponding confirmation is sent to the store.

    If there is a problem, an error message will appear on your screen and the transaction will be cancelled.

    You can view your Payconiq payment history at any time within the app itself or in Web Banking.
